“My stay at the Dhood Gu was something special”
Reviewed December 14, 2010

Our 3 night stay at the Dhood Gu was something special. As soon as you enter you are surrounded with traditional Tibetan decor. The attention to detail in preserving the Tibetan art work was a very pleasant surprise. You really felt you were in a Tibetan hotel. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was reliably good. Our room was beautifully decorated and the beds were comfortable. When I asked for an extra pillow it was there in minutes. We were particularly interested in exploring the old town and this location was perfect. We enjoyed our stay and glad we didn't stay at a "cookie cutter" hotel. If and when I return to Tibet I would stay at the Dhood Gu and will recommend it to my friends.

“Just the sort of place I like”

This is a great place, situated right in the middle of the old town and with bags of character. It's
not posh and seems charmingly amateurish but far, far more interesting because of that. For
example, they were installing a lift at the end of the corridor and there was just a gaping hole in
the wall with a drop to the ground floor. Health and safety obviously hasn't reached as far this,
thank goodness. The decoration is OTT Tibetan at its best and the staff are lovely- friendly and
very keen to help.We had a number of meals in the restaurant which were all fine and reasonably
priced.
We'd definitely come back here and just hope it'll never be taken over by one of the multinational
chains.

“Charming, central, and traditional Tibetan Hotel”
Reviewed November 8, 2010
Stayed October 2010, traveled as a coupl
We stayed 3 nites at this Lhasa hotel as part of an OAT small group tour. The hotel is simply
charming, decorated with colorful Tibetan flourishes, wood wall carvings, and artifacts. Our twin
bed room was comfortable and airy, with a small but adequate bathroom. Breakfeast and dinner
meals were adequate and well prepared but a lot of yak as one would expect. Hotel staff is
pleasant and helpful. Walk the pedestrian street to the bazaar and its myriad alleyways and get
lost and try to ignore the Chinese soldiers with their weapons
